Also, I’ve debunked some major haircare myths along the way. Get ready to do some hair flips because girl you’re gonna get the healthiest hair ever after following these easy haircare hacks.

1. A Big No to Unhealthy Scalp

It’s no secret that a healthy mane starts with a healthy scalp. The bottom line is: if your scalp is not clean, overloaded with dead skin, product build-up and excess oil, it’ll damage your hair and it can even stunt healthy hair growth. One of my favorite hair care rituals that leads to a happy and healthy scalp is SCALP MASSAGE. It might sound boring but trust me massaging your scalp actually promotes healthy hair as it boosts your blood flow. And not only is it completely free and super duper relaxing, but it can also encourage new hair growth. Here’s how you can massage your scalp.

There are two options to massage your Scalp – you can use the power of your fingertips or use a massage tool.

The Fingertip Technique

  • This is optional, but you can try putting your head upside down off the side of your bed, so the blood rushes to your head.
  • Use your fingertips to apply medium pressure moving in small circular motions, starting from the front of your scalp and working your way backward. For extra stress relief, you can massage your temples too.
  • Try to massage your scalp for two minutes every day or do it for three to five minutes each time.

Studies show that continual and frequent scalp massages can lead to a boost in hair growth within six months of daily scalp massage!

Also, I like to do a scalp massage for two minutes every time I shampoo my hair, as it helps remove product buildup more effectively while simultaneously gently exfoliating away any dead skin cells.

You can also try massaging your scalp with oils that support a healthy scalp. You can opt for an oil like Kesh King Ayurvedic Oil, ₹330/-. It is Ayurvedic, clinically proven and 100% safe. It is made with 21 rare Ayurvedic Herbs like Bringhraj, Amla, Tulsi, Hibiscus, etc. It helps in reducing hair fall and promotes hair growth. Also, it comes with a Deep Root Comb which helps with convenient application & stimulates roots for deeper oil penetration. Try to do this process an hour before shampooing your hair, then repeat the scalp massage while in the shower to effectively cleanse the scalp.

2. Brush your Hair before Shampooing

It might sound a bit weird but it really helps in preventing the hair fall. Try to brush your hair before your hair wash. Why? Well, to minimize hair breakage during washing, detangle your hair when it’s dry before you shampoo your hair. Trust me, when you start brushing your hair pre-shower, you’ll be amazed at how much easier the washing process is and how much less hair comes out. I do this every single time I wash my hair. Also, avoid brushing your hair from the top of your scalp, as this can pull and tug your knots. To minimize damage, always start brushing from the ends of your hair, then begin to move upwards. Finish by going all the way through your hair from scalp to tip.

3. Avoid Hot Showers

While showering in hot water may feel great, but it’s actually damaging for your hair. High temperatures strip your hair and scalp of its natural oils, leaving your scalp dry and dehydrated. Try to resist the urge of hot showers and opt for warm temperatures instead. If you can, finish your hair wash with a surge of cold water to seal the hair follicle.

4. Use Shampoo only on your Scalp, not on your Hair Length

Yes, you read it right! To remove excess oils and product buildup, you should use shampoo only on your scalp, not on your hair length because shampooing your hair length will strip off the natural oils of your hair which will make them dry and dehydrated. So, use shampoo only on your scalp and apply conditioner only on your hair length. To remove excess oils and product buildup, you can also double cleanse your hair just like we double cleanse our face. Also, I’ll recommend you to shampoo your hair twice a week, following with an ultra restorative conditioner.

You can try out the Kesh King Ayurvedic Shampoo, ₹210/- and Conditioner, ₹200/-. These products are 100% ayurvedic and has no harmful chemicals. Both the shampoo and conditioner will help in reducing your hair fall and makes your hair shiny and smooth. The conditioner is consist of Aloe Vera and 21 rare ayurvedic herbs which also manages frizzy hair.

5. Always use a heat protectant before styling your hair

A heat protectant spray or serum minimizes your hair damage caused due to the heat emitted by styling tools like curlers, straighteners or blow-dryers.

Heat protectant spray/serum adds a protective layer to your hair, which helps keep them safe from the heat emitted by the styling tools. The heat protectant seal in the moisture in your hair, smoothens the cuticle of your hair and makes your hair smooth and shiny.
